Rinse and squeeze the agar threads. Add to the water and boil until completely dissolved. If using powdered agar, follow its dissolution instructions.

Add the bean paste and sugar and bring back to a boil, stirring until smooth. Cool to about 40°C while stirring, pour into a mold and chill until set. Cut into portions.
